Type EE forklifts have enclosed motors and switches to prevent sparks from escaping and any flexible leads are covered in looming or tubing for additional protection. Although designed for use in environments where explosive or flammable materials are in sealed containers, Type EE forklifts do not protect against static discharges, explosive mixtures of gases or dusts, electrical system failures, or auto ignition temperatures. There is a distinction between EE and EX forklifts: EE forklifts only have minimal spark protection and do not comply with electrical safety standards whereas Explosion Proof EX Forklifts meet higher standards.
