A scissor lift is made of braces that criss-cross in an X pattern and can extend up to reach higher elevations. A platform is attached to the top of the braces for transportation and lifting of people and/or objects by extending upward. These lifts allow for extension as far as two pallet-loads deep, making it much easier to reach deeply set materials. The extension is achieved by applying force to one of the supports by mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic mechanism. Scissor lifts are usually a more economical alternative to boom man lifts.
